Come join us at over 8,500' elevation in the San Isabel National Forest! We are located just 25 minutes northwest of I-25 on Colorado Highway 165. San Isabel offers beautiful year-round scenery and recreation. Plan your trip and enjoy fishing, hiking, mountain biking, paddleboarding, kayaking, dirt biking and off-roading, and so much more!

We have different size cabin rentals for everyone!  Whether looking for a special couple's getaway or a family trip with room to spare, we have a cabin that fits your needs. We have been updating our cabins for your comfort and improved experience and are excited to share upgrades with you soon! Lake Isabel Rentals

Want to play on Lake Isabel?  We now offer stand-up paddleboard and kayak (single and double) rentals! Rent from us or bring your own, Lake Isabel is a wonderful place to enjoy some time on the water.

 

All rentals depend on weather conditions and may not be available at all times. Call ahead for more information and to confirm availability. Lake Isabel prohibits swimming and does not allow any motorized boats.

Rye Colorado - Local Attractions Bishop Castle

Bishop Castle

See Jim Bishop's creation! This beautiful castle was built by hand by Jim Bishop from 1969 to 2019 one stone, one log, one weld at a time. The late Jim Bishop passed in 2024, but his legacy lives on in this wonderful creation.

No more than 10 minutes from Lake Isabel, Bishop Castle is open 365 days a year, sun-up to sun-down. This great attraction is free, but donations are appreciated to keep it running!

Great Sand Dunes National Park

Colorado's Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve has the tallest sand dunes in North America, covering about 30 square miles.  While they are not the closest attraction to San Isabel, experiencing this park is worth while if you are from out of town! About a 2-2.5 hour drive from us, we also recommend stopping at Zapata Falls on your way.

Mountain Fishing

While Lake Isabel is just a short walk away, there are lots of waterways for you to explore.  Be sure to check out our short list of nearby lakes and rivers.

Mountain Trails

The San Isabel National forest has no shortage of trails for every type of enthusiast. Our mountains have plenty of trails for hiking, mountain biking, off road vehicles, camping, backpacking, bird watching, nature hikes and YES, we even have KID FRIENDLY Trails.  We have created a list of trails to explore that are in proximity to San Isabel.

CABIN SPOTLIGHT! Cabin 13

This cabin is perfect for couples looking to get away! The heated space is cozy and private, featuring a King bed, bathroom with shower (no bathtub), and a kitchenette. Linens and towels provided. Kitchenette includes a small refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, as well as dishes and utensils (no cooktop). The cabin includes a TV with DVD player. Bring your own DVDs or check one out from the main office. If you prefer to spend time outside, enjoy the covered porch with seating!

The cabin includes a propane grill. Please bring your own propane or rent 20lb bottles from our main office. One vehicle included with rental, all additional for a fee. Pets welcome for an additional price.
